Particle-in-cell simulation of an industrial magnetron with electron population analysis

Results from a particle-in-cell simulation study of L3Harris CWM-75 kW are presented; the continuous wave cooker magnetron typically operates at 18 kV, 5 A, 1900 G, 896–929 MHz. The startup process device has been simulated in 3D by using PIC code VSim. behavior was examined with (1) no priming, (2) RF and (3) cathode modulation. Under failed to oscillate time 1000 ns. Oscillations were achieved both priming (150 ns) modulation (180 ns). Half (∼40 kW) device’s typical operating power frequency 915 MHz, π-mode frequency, used for active only during first 50 ns simulation. then oscillated later, but oscillation soon as spokes collapsed. Continuous also performed MHz stable after 180 A method analyzing electron physics developed examining time-dependent particle distribution profiles r φ. These results provide insight into conditions hub that lead oscillation, particularly azimuthal velocity where shows clear low or negative prior start oscillation.
